HOMBERGSGAMES

A little clarity

Privacy Policy.

A clear guide to playing our offline games, visiting this website and getting help.

Last updated:

Different places. Clear boundaries.

This policy covers all Hombergs Games titles in their current offline versions, including Words Abroad and Cannonbloom, published by Pascal Homberg. It also explains what happens when you visit the Games website or contact support. The app and website sections have different scopes.

When you play

The covered games work offline, without an account, ads or tracking. Progress stays on your device, not on our servers.

When you visit

The website needs technical connection data to load securely. Emailing support is a separate, voluntary interaction.

1. Who is responsible?

The controller for the processing described in this policy is:

Pascal Homberg
Hombergs Games
Stobbestr. 6
45147 Essen, Germany
Email: pascal@hombergs.com

Further publisher information: Legal Notice.

2. Playing our offline games

The offline-game information below applies across all our current Hombergs Games titles, including Words Abroad and Cannonbloom. If a future game or update introduces different data processing, we will explain it before those features are used.

No account. No tracking.

The covered games work offline and do not require a user account. They contain no advertising, in-app purchases, analytics or tracking services, and no integrated service that automatically sends crash reports.

During play, the games do not transmit saved progress or personal usage data to us or other recipients. We do not create usage profiles or use an advertising ID.

What stays on your device

To remember your progress and let you continue playing, the games store data locally. Depending on the game, this can include:

  • Saved progress and the state of an ongoing game;
  • Completed levels and unlocked content;
  • Achievements, awards, scores or move counts;
  • Hints or other gameplay aids you have used;
  • Language, sound, vibration and other game settings.

This storage supports the game functions you use. Where storing or accessing information on your device is strictly necessary to provide the game functions you request, consent is not required under Section 25(2), point 2 of the German Telecommunications and Digital Services Data Protection Act (TDDDG).

We cannot access this local data remotely and do not run our own cloud service for game saves. Backup or transfer features offered by your operating system or device manufacturer are separate. Whether they are available depends on the game, your device and your settings.

Keeping or deleting your progress

Local progress and settings normally remain on your device until you clear the app’s data or uninstall it.

On Android: you can usually clear local data under Settings → Apps → the game → Storage → Clear data or Clear storage. The names and steps may differ by device. This removes your saved progress. Clearing the cache is different and is not the same as deleting your game data.

A normal uninstall also removes the app’s private data from the device. Archiving an app is different from uninstalling it and may preserve its data. Copies held by an independent operating-system or device backup service may remain and may be restored when you reinstall the game. You manage those copies and settings with the relevant provider.

There is no game account with us and no online save stored by us that needs to be deleted separately.

App stores and your operating system

When you download or update a game through Google Play or another app store, that provider processes data under its own responsibility. Your operating system or device manufacturer may also offer its own diagnostics, backup and security features.

Those activities are separate from the offline game functions described here. The relevant provider’s privacy information and your device settings apply.

Opening a website link from a game, for example to view the Legal Notice, creates a website visit. The website section below then also applies.

3. Visiting the Games website

This section covers the promotional pages at hombergs.com/games/. The Games pages have no visitor analytics, advertising trackers, account system or contact form. Their fonts, images and scripts are served from our hosting, not from remote font services or embedded social media widgets.

Applies to hombergs.com/games/; it is separate from the offline-game information above.

Hosting and technical records

Our website is hosted by Alfahosting GmbH in Germany. When your browser requests a page or asset, technical connection data is processed to deliver it. This includes your IP address and the request itself.

The hosting infrastructure can record access and error information, such as the time of a request, the requested address, the response status, browser information and a referring page if your browser sends it. These records help operate the website, diagnose errors and detect misuse. They are not used by us to build advertising profiles.

The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR: our legitimate interest in providing a reliable and secure website. Technical data is necessary to deliver the site; without it, your browser cannot retrieve the pages. Alfahosting receives the data as part of providing hosting services.

Technical records are retained only for the period needed for operation, troubleshooting and security, subject to the hosting configuration and any applicable legal retention requirements. Records relevant to a security incident or legal claim may need to be kept until that matter is resolved.

Provider information: Alfahosting’s privacy information.

Your browser, cookies and links

There are no embedded third-party videos, social media widgets or remote font services on this website. Your browser may cache website files as part of normal browsing; we do not use that cache to identify you.

If you have used other pages on hombergs.com, your browser may also transmit previously set cookies whose domain and path include the Games pages. Functional WordPress and WooCommerce cookies can support a login session, shopping basket or checkout elsewhere on hombergs.com. The static Games pages do not read these cookies in their scripts and do not add tracking cookies. This policy describes the Games pages; it does not describe every feature of the WordPress website or shop.

Links to other websites, including app stores, hosting providers and licence information, take you to services with their own privacy policies. A “Coming soon” store label is an availability notice, not an embedded connection to Google Play.

4. Contacting support

If you email pascal@hombergs.com, we process your email address, the content of your message and any attachments you send. We process other personal details only if you choose to share them.

We use this information to answer your enquiry and help with problems. Please send only what is needed for your request. We do not use support enquiries for advertising.

If you use the phone number in our Legal Notice, we also process the information you share and, where displayed, your phone number to handle your request. The purposes, legal bases and retention criteria in this section apply to these enquiries too.

Where your enquiry concerns entering into or performing a contract, processing is based on Article 6(1)(b) of the GDPR, to the extent it is necessary for that purpose. For other enquiries, the basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR: our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries and supporting our players.

Email service providers involved in delivering and storing messages, and telephone service providers involved in connecting a call, receive the relevant communication data. Providing information is voluntary, but we may not be able to help without a way to reply and the details of your request.

We delete support messages when they are no longer needed to handle the enquiry, related follow-up or necessary evidence, unless statutory retention duties require us to keep them. Information needed to establish, exercise or defend legal claims may be retained until that matter is resolved.

5. Your rights

Under the GDPR, and where its conditions are met, you may request access to your personal data, correction, erasure, restriction of processing and data portability. If processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent for the future. We do not make automated decisions about you or carry out profiling.

To exercise your rights, contact pascal@hombergs.com. We cannot access or erase game saves that exist only on your device; you control them using the local deletion options described above.

Your right to object

You may object at any time, for reasons related to your particular situation, to processing based on our legitimate interests under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. We will stop that processing unless there are compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests, rights and freedoms, or the data is needed for legal claims.

6. Making a complaint

You have the right to complain to a data protection supervisory authority, particularly in the EU country where you live, work or believe an infringement occurred. For our location in North Rhine-Westphalia, you can contact:

Landesbeauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit Nordrhein-Westfalen (LDI NRW)
Postfach 20 04 44
40102 Düsseldorf, Germany
Contact details and complaints information

7. Updates to this policy

We update this policy when the described features or data processing change. The date above identifies the current version.

If future games or updates introduce features such as online accounts, in-app purchases, advertising or analytics, we will explain the associated processing before you use those features. Where consent is required, we will ask for it separately.
